A Solo Christmas Holiday in Seville 2024

On Christmas Eve of last year, I picked up my backpack and embarked on a six day solo journey to Seville, Spain. Some might call me crazy for traveling alone on Christmas—a time traditionally spent with family and friends. Why are you alone during the holidays? Aren’t you lonely?  These questions kept coming from different people. But no, I’m not lonely. Solo travel doesn’t automatically mean loneliness, does it? I think we often confuse solitude with loneliness. They are two entirely different things. Being alone doesn’t mean feeling lonely. In fact, you can be surrounded by family, friends, or even a partner and still experience loneliness. But don’t worry, I’m not here to give a lecture on that—maybe another time! Back to my story.
